Go Giants!!

all the halloween festivities (parade & party) took part in the morning. afterwards, i had changed ariana into a sf giants championship tshirt. at the same time, millions of people are headed to the city to celebrate the giants winning the world series. good luck in going especially if you have school age children. i really doubt if the kids would give up their halloween costume parade & party for the giants.

Happy Halloween

ariana dressed up as a Lalaloopsy doll - jewel sparkles to wear to school. i had bought the dress over the summer at target for her to play dress-up. its a small size 3-4. little by little we both put the whole costume together - crocs, clip hair bow, pink wig, and ariana decorated one of her crowns. the only thing missing was the pink "Kitty" pet. she had second thoughts of wearing the disney brave merida blue dress. she has always worn a disney princess dress, and i thought that a bunch of girls would be donning brave merida dresses this year. we were going to change into the blue dress for trunks for treats but it started to rain.

Halloween Witches

 

this is one of gymbos halloween shirts from last year, that i picked up on sale. this was the only day for ariana to wear it, as tomorrow is halloween. its a kidgirl size 6 and i had to roll the sleeves up. i guess i could've waited for her to wear it next year. even though today's prep is PE, i went ahead and paired it with the black petti skirt from pumpkin patch. come to find out they played street hockey. i think as long as her shoes are appropriate for PE - we're good. these black Geox mary jane shoes were the best thing i bought over the summer. a bit pricey (even at the outlet), but well worth it.

Poppy Love

 

 its a bit chilly in the morning, but gets up in the 70's. ariana is wearing gymbo poppy love dress (summer 2010). the line is mostly red and white polka dot with this little black/white puppy. i am partial to any black-colored pieces.

the morning after - the san francisco giants swept the world series in 4 games, i met my sister at sports authority. they handed out numbers 1-100 (we were #40) and stuck around for the shirts to come in. which is ironic because the shirts are printed in union city, brought to the warehouse in san jose, and delivered to the store in union city. my cousin couldn't wait (eta 11:00) and gave us her #32 as long as we got her some. there was a limit of 3. i just got 2 - a Large for josh and an XL for byron. i also managed to find a small orange tee for nana hanging on the racks. the store didnt have the womens style and had no idea what time the black shirts would come in. i'm good with the grey ones, these are the ones they gave out to the players when they swept detroit. go giants!!

Tooth No. 8

the top side. it was wiggly-loose yesterday and still hanging on tight today in the back. ariana said she kept noticing and feeling a crack in the front. luckily it wasn't "hanging" or else ariana wouldn't eat a thing. we are wishing it would come out soon, plus she would be miserable at school tomorrow. while eating dinner (pasta) tonight, ariana all of a sudden said "my tooth came out!" she was brave enough to help it with a little tug and pull it out herself. ariana even wanted to go to bed early at 7:30 for the toothfairy. see this is tooth #8, like the last baby one to fall out. ariana thinks this is the last time for the toothfairy. Twinkle (her assigned toothfairy) left a note "keep up a good job brushing your teeth, and i'll come visit you". she also left a fairy book, diney fairies "periwinkle" doll, and a shiny brand new 2012 penny. guess the toothfairy bank ran out of gold dollar coins. i saved him alot of money this time. Congratulations to the San Francisco GIANTS - world series champions!!

Summer Out - Fall In

i believe our indian summer warm weather is behind us. i finally got a chance to change out ariana's closet. here's the stack of just her summer dresses alone. hoping they fit next year. i had enough hangers for all of the fall/winter dresses. means i have the same amount for both seasons. now to sort thru the drawers and bring in the rest of her wardrobe bins.
i chit-chatted with the other moms after dropping off this morning. some of our kids are in folk dance troups, like how ariana is in likha filipino. ariana's costumes are made especially for the kids and sewn in the philippines. one mom had posted on facebook a picture of her daughter in a traditional indian sari. i had wondered if she gets a new sari for every occasion. they teased me saying "no, we're not like ariana's blog". whew, can you imagine if ariana was indian?

Candy Stripes

this is the first art vistas lesson for the class. its where you take colored tissue paper with starch. the kids were instructed to make 3 sections and do a landscape scene. arianas started out as a sunset, and when it came time to add details - a cherry blossom tree and a pond. the day before she was talking to her teacher about our trip to washington dc in april. the teacher was in dc the week before us for the 100 years cherry blossom festival. ariana picked to wear one of her favorite dresses. its a carters polo style (size 5 which falls short on her already), paired with gymbo clogs from spring rainbow line.

Polka Dot Poodle

the teacher likes to celebrate all the birthdays in the month all together on one day - usually the 3rd thursday. 3 girls turn 7 years old in ariana's class in october. i brought mini cupcakes (thanks to tita tyn), each kid gets a chocolate and a vanilla one with a surprise mini chocolate chip at the bottom. i also had regular sized cupcakes made for the birthday girls. ariana loved the pink & blue pearl-like sprinkles on them. she is wearing gymbo polka dot poodle dress, with a faux necklace. its a kidgirl size 7, where she could wear it well into next year too. the umbrella is from gymbo growing flower line. happy birthday to the october girls!

Hello Kitty Halloween

i didnt realize it was going to rain this morning. guess i need to start checking the weather app more often. i brought her halloween shirts out from the fall bins, hoping they still fit from last year. ariana picked to wear the hello kitty one, paired with corduroy pants from tcp (size 5). and in honor of the SF giants playing in the world series tonight vs detroit lions (game #1).

Barbie Girly Girl

every time ariana has prep PE (which is twice a week), she wants to wear her barbie track suit outfit. but you all know that is never going to happen. there is no way i'm going to wash it in one day, let alone wear it again the same week. ariana added her gap pink bow headband. she is truly my girly-girl.

on the calendar for the month of october, ariana red-circled 2 days. one on the 5th - being her birthday of course. the other october 23rd - the release of disney's new tinkerbell movie dvd "secret of the wings". in stores today, tinkerbell & friends welcome the newest winter fairy Periwinkle (meaning another fairy doll for xmas). we watched it after school. byron thought i was going to save it for xmas. uh its kind of hard to do, especially when her friends talk about it school. and plus - i doubt if i could hold her off for 2 more months or else several trips to redbox $.

after one of my weekly morning starbucks trip with my sister, we checked out the disney warehouse sale at southland. i got a couple of things no biggee, they had mostly clothes that were still too overpriced for me. my sister wanted to stop by sports authority. the parking lot was fuller than usual. "guess alot of people are buying san francisco giants stuff". we get inside and all these people were waiting around. apparently sports authority got a shipment in of the giants nlcs champion tshirts that were given out last night at game #7. we were given #60, with no limit on how many shirts one can buy. i befriended a lady with #11 and asked her if she can get us 2 shirts. i ended up getting a size Large for josh. he sure didnt waste anytime sporting it on his way back to college.

Picture Day

school pictures that is, plus being the first rainy day. all kids meet in the cafeteria multi purpose room, then each grade is dismissed one by one. last year the teachers came into retrieve their class. ariana is wearing a gymbo homecoming kitty outfit, paired with crazy8 boots. i came back to school to turn in the jogathon envelope. perfect timing as the class was on its way to have their pictures taken. there were parent volunteers to help groom the kids. i did ariana's as i wanted the right side of her long hair to be in front. the photographers now have a computer screen to view the photo. i asked if i could see ariana's. the 2 shots taken had her chin down with her eyes looking up. the third shot turned out great. good thing i was there, or else we would've had to do a retake next month. ariana has dance afterschool, and i had a change of shoes in her backpack.

what to watch on tv this evening - the SF Giants game 7 vs the cardinals, the third and final presidential debate, or monday night football. good thing we have have dual dvr's. we ended up watching the giants game #7 nlcs as we're going to the world series vs detroit lions. GO GIANTS!!

Pump-it-Up Birthday

 
ok you guys remember my united buddies of how we were all preggo around the same time. this time its kaylie turning 8. the party was held at pump it up. dad didnt come along this time, so ariana wasnt into going into the different jumpy houses. she finally found one like an obstacle course, but i had to run along the side to assure her i was there. then she started hanging around cameron, and i got to hang out with all the parents.
byron had the tv remote and was scrolling thru the guide. he stopped at disney WALL-e movie. i noticed it was on a spanish channel. so i mentioned "you can't watch it because its in spanish. ariana said that it should be called "Wall-e goes to Mexico" instead. we all started laughing, and this time she cracked her ownself up adding "that was a good one, huh?"

Disney on Ice - 100 years

one of ariana's birthday gifts were tickets to see Disney on Ice at the oakland coliseum. ariana chose to wear her brave merida dress.  i dont mind since were getting our moneys wear out of it. altho i was trying to coax her into wearing something red/white polka dot like minnie mouse, since this show is geared towards ALL the disney characters and movies.

No Cheer

you know the feeling when something is cancelled and nobody called you. ariana realized that she got all dressed up in her uniform for nothing.  the cheer teacher said that she will be here at the school, even though its a budget cut furlough day.

Minimum Day

kids get out at 12:00 noon, and it also happens to be one of the hottest days and probably our lasts. rain is due to come in late sunday night. afterschool, 4 of us met at a frozen yogurt place. ariana is wearing a gap summer dress. its suppose to be a maxi and touch the ground, but i got it in a size 5T so it wont be that long.

Naartjie Hot

another hot day in the bay area. now this is our indian summer weather that i have been longing for. ariana is wearing a naartjie outfit, the color is sugar. i dont know how it happened but ariana out of the blue - slipped and fell afterschool yesterday. the moms were chit-chatting away at pickup time, and she must have slipped. her lip was the only thing bleeding, and luckily she caught her fall not to hit her front teeth. whew. we iced the lip when we got home, but ariana was more concern with these little scars on her knee. she was hobbling & limping around the house like she broke her leg. OA - over acting.

Pictures Break

ariana is in a "no taking pictures" mood the past few days. she's been using the excuse that she wore the outfit before too. this proves she does get to wear things again more than once. to kind of keep track (via the blog) what she wore, i'll use pictures from the last time. blogger has a new thing where i could grab pictures from a past post. ariana is wearing gymbo citrus cooler blouse with denim rolled up shorts. this was previously worn in may.

on monday (october 14), she's wearing the gymbo greek isle style outfit. and this was last worn in april. funny thing happened - i had put on a brand new pair of l'amour navy blue mary janes size 13. one of the soles started to flip-flop off by first recess in the morning. and then by lunch time, the other one came off. guess they didnt put enough glue on them. ariana had her teacher call me to bring another pair, because she "has dance afterschool and can't dance in them".

Pumpkin Patch

this was the weekend of the pumpkin festival down in half moon bay (pumpkin capitol of the world). on the way to the festival, there are about 3 pumpkin patches to stop at. we never go to the pumpkin patches during the festival, traffic is bumper-to-bumper going down highway 92. instead we went to ardenwood-perry farms just 5 minutes from the house. the rain moved out and temperatures got into the low 70's. ariana is wearing gap corsica shirt with jeans. i usually put on a gap pumpkin shirt to wear, but its long sleeves.

Jog-a-Thon

as the second grade classes came out for the jog-a-thon, it started to drizzle and light showers. it ended up being a WALK-a-thon since the ground was slippery and wet. funny though, a teacher would tell them to slow down and walk. right after they passed - the kids would kick up the speed only to find me to slow them down 10 feet behind. kids were given 2 tally marks for every lap, plus an extra 5 laps for walking in the rain. ariana chalked up 27 total. we brought them inside for recess, and go figure it stopped raining for the other grades to jog. they had their popsicle treat in the afternoon. she's wearing an adidas track suit (via costco) with her new Asics running shoes.

10-11-12

october 11, 2012. ariana is wearing gap roman getaway dress. took out the janie & jack black patent boots due to possible rain showers. i let her wear a necklace to school for the first time. hopefully she wont play with it and be a distraction, or else i had warned her that the teacher might take it away. over the years i have bought several jewelery - necklaces & bracelets. but after getting her dressed, i dont have time to pick out the accesories. i stopped buying her purses that coordinate with the outfit, as well. she plays dress up with them at home, but again - i dont have time to get it out. plus, guess who will be stuck carrying it or to make sure we dont leave it anyplace - ME!

Pink Owl

tuesday is PE prep and the kids are going to practice for the jog-a-thon this coming friday. ariana told me her adidas size 12 shoes are getting tight. i swear her foot grew overnight since school started. luckily i had a size 13 Asics running shoe on hand from the outlet over the summer. i went to sports authority and picked up a size 1 to be prepared for the next growth spurt, this time saucony. ariana is wearing an owl tee from gaps butterfly canyon line. paired with skinny jeans (size 110) from h&m. after school i took her to the beauty shop, originally just for a wash but ended up getting a trim. ariana told them "to cut less than 2 inches, or else dad & grandma are going to FREAK out". byron is one of those dads that loves their daughter with long hair and never wants to cut it. and with grandma having 4 sons, she had wished for a girl with long hair too.
