Winter Wardrobe

this was taken last month/last year as i was changing out the closet. the dresses are getting longer compared to the blog title picture from 2009. i'm actually going to attempt to attack it again since ariana had a growth spurt, plus her style is changing as well. this project causes a domino affect in her room. we took out the pbk vanity that is too small, and moved the drawer chest in the closet by her bedside. now the dresses have more space to hang down. the american girl dolls now have their own space below.

Descendants Designer

you can now find Disney at jcpenney. i went there to look at the tsum tsums that they just started selling. they even had costume princess dresses on sale compared to at the disney store. this outfit came from the Descendants section - not sure if its evie's or mal's. it might be designed with carlos in mind since he's the son of cruella de ville (dalmations). the red heart necklace is the one evie wears in the movie. 

Tutu Tulle

with a break in the rain this week, it will give ariana a chance to wear her dresses. the top part is a tank, and it came with a quilted moto style jacket - and specific instructions to keep it on. i doubt ariana will wear this when spring/summer comes around, she has this thing about wearing black in the sun. at first she didnt want to wear a "tutu", but i told her its "tulle". some girls asked why she was dressed up. ariana replied "i'm not going anyplace - this is just what i'm wearing". afterschool ariana worked on a math project with her classmate, who happens to stay across the street at her grandparents. partners are to create a poem/rhyme on lowest common denominators and greatest common factors. the girls came up with a song to the tune of "a whole new world" from Alladin.

Warm Winter Day

was able to dress ariana up while the bay area is between storms. temperatures reaching at least 60 deg in the afternoon. rain is expected friday here and the whole east coast is bracing a winter blizzard thunder snow storm. we're talking over 2 feet of snow or more, where all the airlines are cancelling flights to/from over the weekend. ariana just picked out this skirt at forever21 in vegas. i was skeptical in buying it because we couldnt find a matching top as we shopped. either way ariana wanted it, and figured she had one at home in mind to wear. it so happen it was the hoodie from forever21 as well.

Darn Yarn

one of ariana's xmas gifts was a yarn loom craft kit. her first project was a pair of tech gloves. everybody at school was asking where she bought them at, and she was proud to say that she made them herself. most thought she knew how to knit, and was curious how she made the thumb-hole space. and i'm pretty sure some probably wanted to try them on - but ariana stuck to rule and said "nope". it rained for the most part of the day, even where i had to drive to school in the morning. i come to find out that its probably a lot faster if we had just walked from home. she's wearing a gap stripe sweater dress (blecker line). warm leggings and rain boots. ariana will bring the loom ring to school on friday for show&tell.

Forever21 Blue

not knowing it was going to rain this afternoon, i picked one of our latest purchase from forever 21 (las vegas). its a thin cotton dress, and paired with navy fleece lined leggings (gymboree). couldnt pass up the $12 sale price. ariana bff's both have the same dress during back to school shopping. it'll be funny if they all wear it the same day.

TsumTsum Twins

just so happen the girls both wore disney tsumtsum shirts. no memo was sent out. i took out the juicy tracksuit for ariana to PE square dance in. this was the first pink shirt on top to match. i figured short sleeve would be fine since she'll be wearing the jacket. imagine my surprise at pick up to see them match. we must be on the same wave length, because the girls both wore their black minnie mouse tshirts to a birthday party last month.

Black Emu's

theres no rain in the forecast today, giving ariana a chance to wear her EMU boots (similar to UGGs). which reminds me to get them treated for water & rain. i figure black would go with most of her outfits. maybe when byron gives us the go ahead for uggs, we'll get the brown chestnut pair. ariana is wearing a grey/black herringbone dress from gap.

Project Doll-ways

ariana has received alot of arts & crafts kits for gifts. we're going to try to new thing and shoot to do one over the weekend. first on the list is sewing set for american girl 18-inch dolls. the pattern is on the material, where you cut it and invert it. its an introduction to sewing to get the concept of using a pattern. my mother taught me how to sew to make 4-H projects. good thing ariana has 3 dolls (jade, cecille & isabelle) for models.

Kohls Find

believe it or not - this dress came from kohls. i went last minute xmas shopping. my sister was like "i thought you got her a dress already??" i did, but this was too pretty to pass up. the skirt is a braid-quilted material where it holds and shapes the pleats. good thing i had kohls cash, coupons and every thing else i could possibly apply. my sister shouldnt laugh - as she got a great deal on an artificial 7' prelit xmas tree regular $250. the dress is a size 10, and i was thinking of stashing the size 12/14 for later.

RIP grandma polly. the mother of my cousin's husband. i remember at a party after i had gotten married - she asked me if i changed my name. i told  the story how my dad named me after Thelma "Pat" Nixon, and i really dont like my name. to me, thelma belongs to a southern lady who should be my aunt or grandma. additionally, do i look like a thelma morgan? it wasnt until her 70th birthday party that i had learned about her birth name "Thelma Pauline Morgan", let alone shes from Tennessee as well. Condolences to the Young and Hunter families.

Dolly & Me

another break in the rain for ariana to wear a dress. its a dolly&me one via zulily to match her american girl doll Jade. she didnt know jade had a dress like hers until she came home from school to see emma's parting gifts.

Bye Emma

emma departs back to the north pole after Three Kings january 6th. where most elves leave on xmas eve with santa. ariana said her "good byes" last night and one last time before she left for school today. ariana gets pretty attached to emma, especially since shes been here since thanksgiving. to help ease the pain, emma always leaves parting gifts and a note. dohVinci art set that was one of the #1 things on ariana's xmas list. either santa forgot it or emma asked to save it for later. also was a mini lalaloopsy doll to add to her collection, and an emma lego friends set. thank you emma for being here during the holidays. ariana loves all the gifts, loves playing hide & seek, and always looks forward to see what you get yourself into everyday. until we see you again ...

Make Goals

PE prep and el nino storm #2. this calls for her new PE outfit from target. the leggings are size 7/8 and hoodie size 10/12. they are doing square dancing in PE and inside the multi purpose room. its a great idea to have it during the rainy season. but its also a time when kids are sick and they touch & hold hands in the dance. just have to make sure the kids use hand sanitizer before and after. i just realized that i could dress ariana up on PE prep days too - not having to wear sweats or track outfit.

Three Kings (Epiphany): we usually leave the tree up til today January 6th. this year we got a live tree from the lot, and we had stopped watering it after xmas since we went out of town. i started taking down the decorations over the weekend, so byron could put it outside for garbage day on wednesday. when the "green" garbage truck came, i was waiting for the truck to pick up the tree. i didnt want it to sit out like last year. good thing byron was home to put it in the bin so they can take it. and off went the wreath on the front door too.

Yummy Sushi

emma knows ariana loves sushi. she brought a "yummy nummies" food kit to make candy sushi. this is the united states version of the japanese happy food kits. emma had all the sushi stuff from ariana's eraser collection.

Blue Brrrrr

the trump tower hotel was right across the street from the fashion show mall. there - the biggest Forever21 store we've ever been too. ariana was in shoppers heaven in the girls department. this flannel shirtdress came in several colors grey, red and blue. ariana narrowed it down to the blue one, as she has several grey-black outfits. and plus it still matches her black rainboots. its been so cold in the mornings and ariana has quite a coat collection. but we're in a hurry to walk out the door by 7:45 that i dont even try to take a picture. its just so happen i got a picture of our little eskimos at school pickup.

Minnie Tsum

 

first day back to school. this morning was rough getting up - for both of us. we've been on winter break since december 19th, not once did we have to wake up early. ariana wanted to wear one of her new outfits. el nino storm #1 is hitting the bay area/ california, where i drove and dropped off at school - this calls for pants & boots. the minnie tsum sweater is new from the disney store, its actually womens size XS. hmmm, wonder if it'll fit me?? or if ariana will let me borrow it - that is the question. emma was found wearing the polka dot skirt and sitting on top of the MEGA minnie tsum . hey, how did emma know ariana was wearing the sweater??
