it was really cold this morning - say around 45 degrees. i dressed ariana in this gap sweater-type dress with fleece lined leggings that we picked up sale a couple weeks ago. Paired with gap moto boots. i even made her wear the gap warmest parka with Eskimo hood. the clouds cleared and it warmed up to around 65. i knew i was going to hear it when i picked her up from school. i'll just blame it on the weatherman.

i originally had navy blue tights on ariana this morning, but it made the dress look too short. this dress is size 7 and it fell below the knees a couple of years ago. so to keep up with the "red" theme even though its passed valentines day, chinese new year (the year of the goat/sheep) starts tomorrow - i switched to the red leggings. yesterday the foggy mist never lifted, and was basically partly cloudy all day. with all the nice weather we had over the holiday weekend, we all expected it to be warm. so today i put on a sweater dress from gymboree homecoming kitty line, leggings, boots. and guess what - it cleared up to over 65 degrees. good thing i had ariana wear the fleece navy peacoat instead of a heavy type ski jacket. we signed the girls up for young rembrandts drawing class after school. this session goes until spring break, and probably their last. its every wednesdays, and it gives me an extra hour to go run errands til pickup. plus its kind of nice over the rainy season (if we get some) for her to go straight to the class instead of outside for pickup.

this is a custom from clara bella designs. she takes a shirt (this one from carters) and adds ruffle tiers to make a dress. we didnt have an opportunity to wear it last week with the weather being warm. i heart you!

Emma Valentine Visit

ariana made a wish hoping for emma (elf on shelf) to visit on valentines day. her facetime buddy had hoped for his elf saddie to come too. they both magically appeared friday night. of course emma arrived bearing lalaloopsy queenie red hearts. she only stayed for the 3 day president day weekend. leaving two more departing gifts: valentina hugs n kisses - the target exclusive for valentines day.

Happy Vday by the Bay

every week byron sits down and goes over the calendar with me. usually for the week and the following weekend. starting in february - ariana has cheer on friday nights, pie making class saturday mornings, and likha filipino on sundays. last month i had mentioned to him that there are no classes held over the presidents day weekend and he's off. here was his chance if he wanted to go to the snow (reno/tahoe), disneyland or wherever and stay the night. well he didnt think about until late friday night and wants to do something on valentines day. i was pushing for napa, and he picked monterey. for some reason he didnt think about the pebble beach golf game and valentines day going on. probably because he was lucky to get a 4:00 reservation at domenicos on the wharf. temperatures hit 80 degrees driving through san jose, and dropped a good 10 as we got closer to the monterey bay. ariana is wearing gymbo white capris, gap chambray top, with her new white denim jacket from gap (bigger size M).

Pink Valentine

 

ariana picked out to wear her target ever after high dress. infact most of the girls were wearing pink today instead of the usual red for valentines day. the class didnt have a party, but the kids still passed out valentine day cards and goodies. they got to bring their own box/bag from home. ariana used her pbk mailbox. the kids enjoyed opening & closing it. afterschool the bff's met and we gave them their goody bags. right after xmas i started to pick up things for vday little by little. i always buy in 3's and  didnt realize how much i had stashed away until i brought it all out. the girls didnt notice what they got until they got home - they were too excited playing with the new disney cinderella tsum tsums. one auntie gave the bff besties tshirts, and the other auntie brought in a mylar butterfly heart balloon for each kid in our family group.

Be Mine

ariana has her valentines dress picked out to wear on friday. she has PE prep on mondays. they are done with square dancing, so i need to put her in pants just in case they go outside. the red ponte pants are from gap. heres her one last chance to wear this long sleeved gymboree valentines top from their 2012 line. after all the wind & rain california got this weekend, we're to be in the low 70's by friday. even though the class isnt having a "party" for valentines day, the kids are still passing out cards. we got these pop-up cards at CVS. ariana tried to stay away from the themed sets. kinder she passed out disney tinkerbell fairies, 1st disney tiana with pencils, 2nd icarly, and 3rd was monster high. i bet disney frozen will be popular this year. 2 boxes of 16, just enough for the class of 31 plus the teacher. we got a head start on them, since the kids are back to getting homework this week.

Puddle Splasher

it didnt rain a single day in january - one of the driest month ever. this weekend the west coast was hit with 2 storms coming from hawaii - "the pineapple express" they call it. the funny thing about this one is that it will be a heavy downpour, then the sun would come out. just enough time for ariana to play in the backyard. we have a brick patio and it fills up with water when it rains hard. shes wearing the gap raincoat with janie&jack rain boots.

Blue Suede Boots

this outfit started from the bottom up - blue boots from gymboree. we have been having unusually nice weather lately. cold 50 deg in morning, warming up to 70 in the afternoon. our much needed rain is headed here by friday. we all know not to get suede wet; thus the boots. the only gappool priorties dress hanging in the closet with some navy on it. 

our teachers in our school district have been working without a contract. for the past 2 weeks, they are following the work-to-rule. no staying after, bringing work home, and no homework. everyday i have ariana read for 30 minutes, and then we do a project. she got a spa lab for Xmas and we made face creams yesterday. ariana had a egg & yogurt facial, and i had an oatmeal/honey one. today was the orbeez foot massage. good thing i remembered to prep it in the morning. It takes at least 4 hours for the little tiny beads to grow in water. Awww - i want what she's having.

Red February

its February already, the month of January sure went by fast. i'm going to try to have ariana wear most of her red winter wardrobe this month for valentine's day. this medina swing dress  is from tea collection.
