Disney Spirit Day

Spirit day to dress up as a disney character. ariana had plans to wear the new Frozen tshirt from justice. but all it took was 2 of her classmates saying they are planning to wear a disney princess ballgown. thus the purple "sofia the first" dress. i did bring a change of clothes in the backpack - just in case. altho i happened to see her at lunch while setting up for gallery night - and all was in tack. except one of her classmates wanted to wear the amulet necklace for awhile.

Gallery Night

there are 6 projects for each grade, and we are suppose to have at least 2 of them displayed from each kid. our docent misplaced the first 2 projects - clowns & starry night. luckily i had taken pictures of the class doing the clown lesson. we put up everybodies pattern scroll and wire play figure.

i cant figure out this weather of ours. temperatures are in the high 70s, but the wind kicks up in the afternoon. then i get the speech that i dressed her too warm. i now send her to school with a jacket to be prepared if it gets too cold, and tie around waist if it gets hot. when i pick her up i always ask where her jacket is. its usually in her backpack. we have been pretty good since kinder - never to have lost one until recently. i cant seem to find a gap navy blue anorak. its not at school, and i think i'm the one who actually lost left it someplace. ariana is wearing this outfit we picked up at tcp childrens place last week. its a geo print bubble skirt. the lace tank had all the same colors on the skirt, altho it goes with another ruffled skirt. slipped on these tommyh canvas shoes to match too.

Memorial Day

our plans changed for the memorial day weekend, as ariana's fever came back. we drove up to berkeley hills - lawrence hall of science. they had an extreme bugs exhibit, flight of the butterflies in the 3D theater, and jupiters moon in the planetarium. ariana is wearing a gap sequin nautical top, paired with gymbo denim capri.

Sophia the First

next friday is spirit day - disney character. ariana already has plans to wear a new Frozen tshirt from justice. but i'm trying to talk her into wearing one of her disney princess ballgowns. i think we have tiana, cinderella, belle, sleeping beauty, brave merida, rapunzel and even tinkerbell wings. she had mentioned Sophia, not knowing i had bought it. i was able to get it in size 7/8 for halloween, then ariana had her heart set on being a galaxy princess instead. so i pulled out the sophia dress for a trial run. she still wants to wear the frozen tshirt on spirit day, and planning on wearing the sophia dress at disneyworld hollywood studios.

Eggs to Breakers

two third grade classes did the annual egg drop. you take an uncooked raw egg and design a package so the egg wont break after being dropped from 15 feet. ariana originally wanted to put in a box, but took the advice of her engineer kuya joshua - the impact from a box will break the egg. so she stuffed her egg in a paper tube roll wrapped up in tissue paper. covered the tube with little bubble wrap sheets. the rolled the whole thing using a sheet of bigger bubble wrap. tied it with a ribbon, then added duct tape all around it. it survived!! out of 30 egg drops, only 3 broke. with it being pe prep, ariana is wearing an easter top from gymboree last year, with gap denim jeans.

Bright Spring Concert

the schools spring concert. ariana is in the 3-4-5th grade dance group. they were told to wear black bottoms with a bright colored top. it was pretty easy with neon clothes coming back in style. we went to justice and found this "bright" yellow tank. paired it with black pettiskirt from pumpkin patch, leggings from another justice outfit with gap pink hi-tops.

Purple Chuckies

wasnt sure if this hanna dress (size 110) would still fit. it passed as long as we had matching leggings to wear with it. it wasnt until her pink lelli kelly shoes didnt fit - thus the purple low top converse. i am in the midst of changing out her closet from fall/winter to spring/summer. the weather happens to be in the 70s and very breezy. this was right in between - nothing long sleeves, nor not ready for a summer tank dress.

the school olympics went right into the games this year. unlike last year where they had an opening ceremony. ariana signed up for the stilts and 3-legged race.

Pacific Rim

the filipino likha kids performed at the pacific rim expo in san jose history park. ariana was in the mountain tribal group dancing "tadek" meaning ceremony.

Zoo Fieldtrip

all the third grade class went on a fieldtrip to the oakland zoo. each chaperone parent were assigned to 5 kids each. the other parents said if they go - the group would be split up. so i was the chosen one - lucky me. good thing i had help where 3 other parents met us there. originally i had plans for ariana to wear shorts from gymbo safari line. shes starting to come down with a cold, and i switched to gymbo faraway traveler capri outfit.

Preppy in Pink

Two third grade classes had a "wrong way corrigan airplane contest". way back in 1938, douglas corrigan left new york to fly to los angeles california. he went the wrong way and ended up going east to ireland. each kid made a paper airplane and flew them in the cafeteria. awards were given out for longest flight, farthest flight, most accurate, and best decorated. byron helped ariana make 3 of them - with flaps on the end. good thing we had an extra for bff to use. temperatures are cooling down, but humidity is still high. ariana is wearing an outfit from gymboree daisy delightful 2011. they mixed daisies and tennis together.

Writing Celebration

Each student had a published piece of writing on display to share with friends & family. The third grade classes did reports on animals. Ariana picked "Giant Pandas". very interesting - even though they are called panda "bears", they do not hibernate like the other bear families. for ariana's how-to section, she did "how to catch a panda".

Spring Maxi

another scorching 95 deg day, and thank God for the slight bay breeze kicking in. we just picked this dress last night at gap outlet (livermore). we went there to meet up with my cousins. it was too hot to shop, and ended up going to eat at elephant bar. i made a brief pitstop in gap, and grabbed 2 maxi dresses for ariana really to wear on summer vacation. but how could i say no with the summer heatwave we are having in the bay area. i gave her the 101 on wearing one - no running and to hold the dress up when climbing stairs. all the 3rd grade classes are on the second floor.

First Cousins

 

this is a summer dress from old navy. originally its to be worn with capri leggings. ariana changed into biker shorts since she knew it was going to be in the 90's again. sorry no sandals though since PE prep called for nikes. after school, we met with my first cousins from my moms side of family (RayosdelSol). my mom comes from a family of 8 - 5 boys, 3 girls. Rico is the son of Tio Wowo who attended a doctors convention in las vegas. Judy & Lani are daughters of Tio Dingin.
