Jog-a-Thon

the schools annual fundraising jog-a-thon event. for the first time its being held on the field. kids dont like to go on it with all the geese duck poop. good thing i brought a mat for the water bottles. 4th graders run at 10:30 which was the hottest time and no breeze. kids were coming in for their water after the first lap. ariana jogged/walked 11 laps, pretty much average for the girls. popsicles were handed out to everyone once we counted all the marks. usually on fridays, the teacher rewards the kids with a last recess depending on their behavior during the week. i took this HOT day opportunity and brought melona ice cream bars (mango & strawberry) to celebrate ariana birthday. and to top it off - her bff girlfriend gets to come over and play til its time to go to cheer. with an exception - do her summary homework and eat. ariana assured it'll get done "my mom is good at control (timewise that is).

Mermaid at Heart

This is ariana favorite tank. It's a mermaid, but not sure if it's suppose to be Ariel. This is from old navy after all. It all came together with purple shorts from gap and geox shoes (size eur 32).

Tropical Bloom

granted last week was the first day of fall - autumnal equinox, the bay area is gearing up for a heatwave. pulling the top dress out of the summer bin - gymboree tropical bloom. she had this dress in a smaller size, and i managed to get in a size 7 too.

T for Tommy Gal

our weather is crazy - cool in the mornings and you're not sure if its going to warm up or not in the afternoon. whenever we go to the outlets, i am drawn into the tommy hilfiger store. can you believe i was thinking back-to-school clothes in the middle of summer?? After ariana gets dressed in the morning, I go out to her shoe shelf in the garage. She always has a pair of navy blue maryjanes - one of our many staples. Only to realized they were too small, making me grab the pink geox ones. This outfit would've came out much cuter with the right pair of shoes and the right color knee-hi socks.

Filipina Photoshoot

Getting ready for the big performance show "Saling Lahi" coming in November 22nd. The kids had their photoshoot taken for the program. ariana is in four dances - Vinta (refers to the boat) where the royal figures balance atop the bamboo poles, which portray the movement of the vinta.

Bright Owl

this gymbo skirt is from bright owl - one of last years back to school line. it comes with a long sleeve owl shirt. but since our weather is still on the warm side, paired it with the yellow top from unicorn garden. Another shoe crisis this morning - she complained about the silver geox ones. They actually still fit her, but with her foot getting fuller - there's always something bothering her. Reverted to these black shoes at the last minute.

Bright Ideas

normally ariana doesnt take a daily blog photo when its PE. but with this gymbo "girls think of everything" - she posed for one. the pink pants with hearts on the knee are from a gymbo line too, and sporting her reeboks. the bay area got our first fall rain storm - much needed as we're in a drought. its the first rainy day schedule at school - hope all goes well with traffic.

Posh & Playful

Gymboree had this dress advertised wearing black boots with it. So I had put aside this dress for ariana to wear when it gets cooler. But realized I would have to have a turtle neck or long sleeve top underneath. I might as well let her wear it now before it gets too cold - and with sandals.

Sunday Practice

when we go to dance practice on sundays, theres graffiti on one of the walls in the parking lot. i always ask ariana to take a picture by it, because i think its so neat and colorful. she always refuses to and makes an excuse. this time she said okay but would only let me take one shot really quick. i didnt even have time to back up to get the whole wall. i'll try again next time. we usually wear black leggings and the dance group tshirt. this time it was a neon tank from justice. and her new pair of Toms (size 2). one time ariana wore her plain black ones, and a boy accidentally thought they were his - same size. so since then, shes been wearing girly black ones with silver glitter & pink soles.

Tea Cherry Blossom

Saturday errands - mani pedi time again. i just asked for a color change - but the nail shop lady spoils her. they painted a flower on the big toe and hearts on the thumb centered with a bling. ariana wanted to eat dim sum, but most places don't serve it past 3:00 on weekends. we ended up at Mizuumi an asian buffet enjoying both dimsum and sushi. ariana is wearing a tunic style dress from tea collection, with sandals from target.

Ahoy Pirate

its pirate day. i bought this target d-sign skirt thinking it was like something monster high girls would wear. ariana corrected me that its a pirate skirt. there is only one teacher at the school that celebrates this day, so i wasnt sure if she wanted to dress up or not. no problem if you have a pretty skirt like this to wear. we went to krispy kreme to claim a free dozen of doughnuts since she was dressed like a pirate. you get one donut if you talk like one. arrrghhh, ahoy there mateys!

BTS Night

the annual back-to-school night/book faire. 4th grade presentation is at 7:00-7:30. you meet the teacher and discuss general issues relating to the class and curriculum. for some this will be the only opportunity, unless they require a conference in november. the school did away with the open house event held usually in the spring. i'm good as i help out on thursday mornings and with the art vista room. ariana is wearing gymbo sunflower smiles outfit, a bts line outfit in 2012.

Friendship Camp

Halo-Halo Friday

another hot day in the 80's. ariana is wearing a gap summer dress with oldnavy striped leggings. and probably for the last time - her tommyh sandals. the class discusses their high&lows of the week. ariana's low point was her mosquito bug bite on her arm. one high is her loose tooth that she is excited for it to fall out, hence the tooth fairy visit. and the other is the filipino ice cream party tonight. filipinos call it "halo-halo" meaning mix mix. its where you take shaved ice, put ube ice cream, and add toppings such as flan, sweet corn, beans, coconut, etc. we changed into a gymbo bright ideas purple stripe dress & northside sandals.

Bright

its pe prep and forecast to be one hot day. altho i was a little skeptical this morning being cloudy. i put ariana in gap pink shorts with the neon tank from justice. today is 9/11 september 11th, national day of service and remembrance. usually i dress her in red-white&blue to honor what had happened on 9/11 and all the people that have perished. also the lives that were changed, especially those of us in the airline industry. all of her patriotic nautical outfits are put away in the summer bins already. to come to think about it - i doubt if they will fit her next summer. i might as well hand them down.

Disney Roxy

we were able to shop at the disney outlet for cast members. things were already marked down, plus an additional off. so i let her go at it picking this dress, along with other stuff.

Just Jeggings

its not even a pe day and she wanted to wear jeggings. ariana doesnt even own (nor will wear) a single pair of jeans. she picked out this tunic from her favorite store justice.

Sno-Crave

labor day weekend - we made a pitstop at sno-crave teahouse. ariana orders original milk snow with popping boba & mochi toppings. the fresh strawberries are for me. shaved snow is a cross between ice cream and the traditional shaved ice. its like soft ribbons of flavored ice cream topped with fruit, nuts and other assorted goods. we also put an order of sweet buttered toast, where i dip it in condensed milk. yummo!

Pink Polka Dot

 coordinated with her bff to wear pink. still hanging in the closet is this gymboree dress from polka dot poodle line. its a size 7 and surprise it still fits - with some leggings. she is also wearing her new geox shoes (european size 33).

PE Prep Cheer

PE prep days this year are mondays & thursdays. normally she doesnt pose for the blog on pe, but this cheer top is from justice you see. smile. click.

Aztec Butterfly

 

one of those days again - cold in the morning, hot in the afternoon. ariana is wearing an outfit i picked up at tcp the childrens place before school was out in june. its a bubble skirt (not skort), so she was able to wear leggings. paired with pink geox maryjanes. after homework, she needs to finish decorating her journal composition notebook.

Fourth day of 4th Grade

i noticed on facebook, alot of parents posted pictures of their child's first day of school - either holding a sign or a frame. all the kinder classes had frames out with "first day of kindergarten" for photo props. well i missed the boat the last week. i figure i could do it today - on the fourth day. we have a small chalkboard to count the days down to Xmas, but i wasnt able to dig it out of the holiday storage bins. ariana had this chalkboard page out of her AG magazine - its better than nothing. i have a whole year to make one for the fifth grade. ariana is wearing gymboree blooming nautical. the last pic she is trying to pose like the girl on the shirt.

Labor Day Weekend

we figured since the kids are back to school - summer is officially over. thats why we went to napa last weekend, altho i did had monterey on the list too. we decided to just stay home - not having to wake up get ready and drive. there were alot of local events going on too. ariana is wearing this tiki-wiki custom outfit i had got from a loopie years ago - that she finally fits into.
