Phoenix Cactus

 so i take off to phoenix to go with my sister to look for a house (husband job relocating). you would think a big house, pool, no mortgage - making this a great place to move to. i was actually amazed by all the cactus. they were huge similar what i have seen in cartoons.

Warriors FHN2

the warriors celebrate filipino heritage night two times a year - one in the fall and in the spring. we had bought tickets for both anticipating if ariana likha filipino dance troupe will perform. they did - but not the kids. the dubs jumped on the socks bandwagon for the giveaway.

remember i'm the filipino born on an irish holiday. this morning hubby treats me to breakfast at skillet'z in niles (fremont). then i picked up the girls from school and ended up treating them out to sno-crave for shaved ice cream.

Protest & Rights

with all the protests going on since president trump won the election and inaugurated, the school lead a walk out march protesting the muslim travel ban and immigrant detention deportation. it is not considered as a field trip, so no permission slips required. but parents were asked if their child can participate or not. if so, beware to receive a phone call for missing the last 2 periods. to wear black - the justice shirt seems to fit the bill.

Kamy Dress

i am usually the one to pass down arianas clothes - either to my niece or her girlfriends. kamy is one year older and much taller - who passes down to us. ariana loves them as they are broken in and comfortable to wear. funny - on the way walking home, kamy mentioned "i used to have a dress like that"... yeah and ariana is wearing it.

 one of the activity wheel session is "art". the assignment was to draw food. the teacher let her use pastel chalk.

ariana is channeling "miraculous ladybug" - her new favorite character. again this was a white top for a colorguard performance. rolled up capri pants are from costco (size 14).

it barely snows in california, let alone in union city. so when it hails here out of the blue - its a big thing to us. this was taken in our backyard patio.

these 2 girls partnered up to do a science project. i picked them up after school to work on it together - this is not a playdate. treated to zen-zen sushi.

this outfit was thrown together at the last minute. it started with the rose pants from costco (vigoso), grey tee, and a chance to wear pink cardigan from tommy hilfiger. plus the pink toms with heels.

Catmon Fiesta

my uncle ambrose loyola is from catmon, cebu in the philippines. growing up, our parents were very active in the filipino community, and brought us to these local fiesta events. this year they honored my aunt isabell loyola (94 years old). her mom and my father's mom are sisters - making them first cousins. the family planned the whole ceremony and program. it was an honor for ariana and likha filipino dance troupe to perform. ariana danced "itik itik" (duck dance) along with her friend. congratulations auntie!

Raining Grey

light knit sweater dress from forever21, paired with pink trimmed leggings from gap. some of her friends had asked "why are you wearing uggs n the rain?". these are actually water repellant for the rain, even in the snow.

Ukulele Jake

with ariana in ukulele club learning how to play - i was able to get tickets to jake on tour in the bay area (fox theater in redwood city). he isnt your typical ukulele player strumming hawaiian songs.

that is the color of the day. the sweater is from gap, faux suede skirt from forever21, tom shoes, mk michael kors purse, topped off with cat ears from claires.

being in middle school, 6th graders dont celebrate valentines day like in elementary school. ariana made another set of emojis with the cricut machine again just for the bff girls (6).

Braces for Jade too

ariana got braces on monday. she always said that jade needs to get braces too, when she saw them in the American Girl catalog. we made a special trip to the AG store at stanford mall. smile girls!

Candy Social

6th grade social dance after school. its a candy theme where kids get to pick a bag of candy. the girls planned to wear an emoji shirt. this is the only emoji shirt ariana has, other than her footie pajamas. we got this over the summer at a mall by the airport. the rest of the outfit came together in the morning. paired it with the faux-leather skirt from gap. the light-up shoes were a hit. 2 other girls wore them too, but in black. the 2 things she heard throughout was "i like your shoes" and "where did you get them?" ariana was waiting in line for candy, and the principal noticed them. mrsT said "you have to go show them to Mrs.Nem" and even  holds her place in line.
we first saw them on "dance mom" episode or commerical. they sold them at the mall kiosks over the holidays. i wasnt able to buy them because ariana was never around to try them on. on saw them on zulily and figure she could wear them at the upcoming "glow dance". the 6th grade social came up on the calendar, and i took them out.

Black Camo

this black camoflauge sweater dress is from last year. i remember it was a sale-buy after the holidays. it still fits to be paired with a latest legging from gymboree - see the kitty kats on the knees. and the ugg boots.

guess you can rock "nautical" in the winter - probably only in californa though. this angora like sweater is from tommy hilfiger.
