Belated Bday

kuya birthday is on january 3rd - where we were on our way to arizona. so we celebrated before everybody went back to work & school.

Snowbird

with Xmas falling on the last week in december, winter break goes into the first week of january. we caught an early morning flight to arizona feeling like a "snowbird". thats where people get out of town to escape the cold weather - to someplace warmer.

ariana chose yearbook as her 7th grade elective. usually on fridays you wear the schools spirit shirt. the shirt order came in for the yearbook class, at least she'll still get her spirit points.

November First

went to nordstrom rack to do a return, and ended up with another long sleeved cold shoulder top. i know its trending right now, but i thought it was just for the summer. i keep saying she has enough and no more. but i'm a sucker if its on sale or on the clearance rack. she had the perfect rose gold ears to go with.  today november 1st is my dads/lolo birthday. i always remember its All Saints Day where you remember the dead and have a feast. november 2nd is All Souls Day where you pray for them. Hatsune Miku (pronounced Hot-soon-knee Me-coo) an anime volcaloid character in a nurse uniform. its a cosplay dress used at anime expos. although some kids thought she was the nurse in pokemon or a lalaloopsy rosie bumps & bruises doll.

TBT Throwback 90's

spirit week is throwback thursday 90's. we're talking high waisted belted jeans, denim, what they wore on 90210, good luck in finding any of those is in my closet. josh was born in 1989 growing up in the 90's. we went through thomas trains, ninja turtles, batman, wwf wrestling and power rangers. ariana is the pink one kimberly.  they had all the color shirts at halloween spirit store. wonder if i could find a pair of pink spandex pants?? Go Go power rangers - its morphin time!

Meme Spirit Day

Woah Technology! from an anime yandere dev (developer) where he was amazed by something and said it. the 3 bffs wanted to do a group for spirit day. my girl raised her hand - knowing her mommy (me) can make it with the cricut machine. off to michaels we went - a roll of glitter black iron on, 3 shirts for $10 bucks, 3 wooden masks for the signs. kids at school said "oh i didnt know they sold that shirt - where'd you get them at?" dont know what a meme is - dont ask. you'll just get laughed at and make you feel really old. i've heard a meme can basically be anything - from the internet, from tv, from whatever. but how do you dress up or make a costume out it?? i still dont get it.

Disney TsumTsum Tuesday

for spirit week its disney/ starwars/ marvel. disney acquired marvel comics first, then lucas films with star wars. so when its a disney themed day, its not just the disney characters. ariana picked her tsumtsum minnie mickey mouse tank top along with minnie ears. opps she forgot to bring one of her tsumstsums to school. guess gone are the days wearing a princess ballgown dress.

Pajama Day

monday for spirit week is pajamas. ariana put on her emoji onesie from justice. we bought in a big size last year. and somebody didnt check the weather that it was going to be over 80 degrees. good thing its not a thick fleece material, kind of like a light thermal type. funny some kids just had on what they wore to sleep with - thats actually the best part of pajama day.

Pumpkin Patch

to beat the rain thats due on thursday, we decided to hit the pumpkin patch. this is more a father-daughter tradition with them being charlie brown great pumpkin show fans. but with ariana being 12 now, it was a quick in-n-out trip. climb up the haystack pyramid, walk thru the maze, take a pic with pumpkins and to see how tall she is. no need in searching for the best pumpkin since we never get around to carving it.

this is ariana new favorite color - rose gold. just another shade of pink. she has been waiting for a cool day to wear long sleeves. i picked the velour top up at nordstrom rack. instead of cat ears, the  pompoms are a perfect match.

watching the 10 o'clock news, i find out theres a fire at atlas peak by the silverado country club. thats where the wedding was a couple weeks ago. by the time i went to bed - it had torched 200 acres. i immediately texted my girlfirned mother of bride "silverado on fire".  the winds were so strong where the ember spreaded throughout napa and santa rosa.

Cougar Spirit

every friday is spirit day. the school has a new program where they scan id card and student earn points for participating. plus get points for your team as well (divided into 3 teams - yellow, white, green based on your last nme initial).

HAPPY BIRTHDAY !!  dad wanted to be the first to give a dozen red roses to his baby girl turning 12 years old today. crazy how i started this blog may 2009 - ariana was only 3-1/2 years old. we have virtually watched her beautifully grow up on our computer monitors. her friends sang to her at the lunch table, and in some of her classes too. even one of her 6th grade teacher remembered her birthday. ariana came home from school feeling very special. i had made a facebook post for her birthday - it received over 200 likes and over 100 comments.

this was a last minute find in vegas. what we thought was a cutout dress - is actually the back only because the tag is at the V. ariana felt comfortable wearing it backwards as the cutout choker style is trending.

with the weather being a little cooler, she finally got to wear this cold shoulder sweatshirt. its sooo her - except for the pizza.

Vegas Shooting

we flew into vegas this morning, my sister got tickets for the michael jackson one show for arianas birthday. originally we had checked into the mandalay, and noticed the room wasnt a suite style. they let us change to the delano hotel. we could either move to the other room before the show or after. since my sister and i had already seen the show, we sent the kids in while we go to the rooms. go up the mandalay 16th floor (facing the pool), grab our luggage, down the elevator, go across to the delano, put everything in the 15th floor, down the elevator, made it to the MJ show minutes before it started. whew. afterwards we go up to the new room, decide to go down to gamble. we (4 of us) were all close by at first, then my sister goes to another machine. next thing you know it - she is texting me "cops", "people running", "shooting". immediately we all make it back to the delano room. walking to the side, and no stopping to tell anybody. turn on the news - to find out a guest at the mandalay 32nd floor did a mass shooting at a route 91 country music concert across the street.
