Romper

hope you all had a nice memorial day weekend. we just stayed local as dad went to chicago to visit family, and hes coming home. go figure its the last week of school where i thought ariana could dress up. wrong. even though prep is the schedule science class, they also had PE. she picked to wear the latest purchase i picked up from gap. its a girls size 10 and the picture online showed that the shorts went past the knees. we rarely buy rompers for the "bathroom factor". but now that shes older, she likes to wear them.

Invitations to Follow

at the same time volunteering in ariana end of the school activities, i have been busy with the wedding invites. the kids ordered the invites, folder and pearl finish envelopes.

1. there is a print in the back and sad that nobody will be able to see it. off to michaels i go to purchase clear photo corner mounts.
2. josh designs this full proof rsvp card - one name and two names. no writing in extra guests. i brought it to a local printer down the blvd. 
3. i was about to address them, but the pen doesnt write too well on the pearl finish envelopes. and they dont make a sharpie with a chiseled tip. this takes me to a paper company to purchase size A8 white envelopes which comes in quantity of 250. i only need 100. take them to the printer to get the brides return address imprinted on the back flap.
4. i bought removable glue dots to hold the folder down, but they prefer a navy blue ribbon. back to michaels where i only find 1 roll, and sold out at other stores close by. ended up ordering 4 rolls online.
5. need envelopes for the reply cards to be returned. michaels had box of thank you cards (bogo free). purchased 2 boxes just for envelopes. brought them to printers for address to be printed on front. 
6. finally finished the directions pdf card, and josh designed the heart logo on the other side. back to the printer i go. and remember everytime i go, i pick up a completed item. 
7. made a sample invitation set to get it weighed at the post office. they actually sell a wedding cake stamp for 2 ounce invites. picked up forever stamps for the reply cards return envelopes.
8. address the envelopes with the formal names, plus write each invidual guests name on the rsvp card. this actually eliminated the need to write their informal name on the inside envelope (pearl finish). 
9. everything was in the assembly line on may 26th to put together. and good to go on may 31st. i had the post office clerk handstamp them so they wouldnt go thru the postal machine and get messed up. they left union city, and went thru oakland to get prcoessed. 
10. you got mail !

Black Chifon Chevron

ariana has been asking to wear this dress again. its chifon, and either the weather is too cold to wear or too hot. finally a perfect day - with a couple more weeks of school to go.

Writing Celebration

we surprised ariana at pickup with the hover board. its where i had to drive the car (this thing is heavy), and dad let her ride it home. we waited until most of the kids left, but the few that saw her were in awe. "wow you got a hoverboard!!" like she was the most popular kid at school for having one. shes just lucky for kuya letting her borrow it for all this time.

the schools writing celebration is tonight. its like one big "publishing party" to celebrate all the writers at eastin. every student has a published piece of writing on display. unfortunately the event was only for an hour, not enough time to go around and get to look at all of them. the teacher let the kids pick a topic for their "research paper". ariana wrote about saturn, while her bff did it on jupiter.

Eastin Olympics

the classroom color was purple, which happens to be the 5th grade spirit color. most kids were able to wear their eastin shirts. ariana and her bestie did the 3-legged race and tennis raquet (egg on spoon) event. other ones were stilts, dodge ball, 20 yard dash. everybody is a winner - whether you come in first or last. except for the relay race against all five 5th grade classes.

Doodle Thursday

bye bye 2 day heatwave. temperatures going down today with the wind kicking up in the afternoon. since theres no rain in sight, i let ariana wear her Toms wedge heels from the warehouse sale. she picked her favorite dress from target. come to find out its on the small side, and especially looks shorter with the heels. but ariana always wants to wear it ONE last time. i think next time i'm just going to put it straight in the "it dont fit ariana anymore" pile.

Warrior Girl

its PE prep and the golden state warriors are in the western playoffs. tonight is game #2 in oakland. i picked up these reebok warrior blue shorts to go with her many warrior shirts. i laid them all out this morning for her to pick. ariana turned down each one only because she's not fond of wearing the shorts at all. she choose the dri-fit one that kuya josh got at a game. funny she received several compliments throughout the day - and shes not even wearing a dress. i guess since i cant get her on a team to play, at least i could dress her for the game. Lets Go Warriors!! Strength in Numbers #!

Summertime

remember we went to target because ariana wanted to get a dress there - thats where her girlfriend said she got it at. well i went to costco and spotted the dress - it was the one ariana had described to me. there was a pink fuchsia ombre color, but i picked the pastel mint green one. i think this is new fashion color this year. temperatures hit 85 degrees, warm enough for saltwater sandals. 

Blue Gray Monday

one spring cool day before the heatwave comes in tomorrow. this is a dolly&me handkerchief dress. unfortunately she didnt have her american girl Jade doll all ready for the photo shoot.

Scootin' to School

national bike to school day was last week May 4th. why our school scheduled it one week later today - i dont know?? kids get recognized whether you bike, scooted, walk and even carpool. ariana decided to take her electric scooter. there wasnt a place to lock it up, so i had to walk it back home and bring it back. hmmm, wonder if i could've parked it in the principals office?? the lace trimmed shorts are from costco, and the spring concert top from justice.

Perfect P.E. Pink

we usually dont do a blog on PE days. but i figure if i'm buying her all these outfits, i might as well - right? i mean even the PE coaches are complementing on her PE clothes. ariana is sporting an outfit from target (champion brand). it just so happens it matches the pink Nikes perfectly. come this september in middle school, they have PE everyday and wear a uniform.

Flowers & Stripes

one side of ariana's closet is full of black dresses. unfortunately this year with PE falling on wednesdays & fridays, i wasnt able to continue with my "black fridays" theme. so i'm just going to have her wear them throughout the week. this one being a dress from macys; i think it was part of their easter collection. and you all know byron isnt fond of wearing black to church on easter. she's getting comfortable wearing ballet flats to school. its hard to find mary janes with a strap in big girl size 3-4. this pair is from target where we needed white shoes for filipino dance.

Grey Monday

now that colorguard afterschool is done, ariana could wear dresses on monday. this is another panel one from gap. its like a thin sweatshirt material - perfect for this in-between cooler spring weather.

Mothers Day

this is probably my last mothers day card the kids will make in school. bittersweet. gone will be the days of gifts made in school. highly doubt if they do an art project in the 6th grade. this one the kids used watercolors, then outlined with black paint & glue. ariana & dad brought me breakfast in bed - 3 heart shaped pancakes with powdered sugar sprinkled spelling out MOM. josh and jess stopped by later on in the afternoon - wedding plans in the making.

Fifth of May

Palm Event Center

we took a trip to checkout the wedding venue - a winery in pleasanton/ livermore area. looked at nearby hotels and a place for the rehearsal dinner. ariana is wearing a gap shirt dress (tunic), paired with purple jeggings.

Bulaklakan

Likha the filipino dance troupe performed at a local elementary school art show. the girls performed "bulaklakan" holding arches of flowers. "bulaklak" means flowers in tagalog. this was my first filipino folk dance that i learned and performed at my parents filipino club. we decorated a hula hoop with tissue paper flowers.

Trench Thursday

ariana always wears a coat/ jacket/ sweater when we walk to school in the morning. we are in a hurry to make it out the door by 7:45, where i dont have time to take a picture. i wish i did because she has a nice coat collection. i use to hang them in a section in my closet. but when kuya moved out, i lowered the bar in his to house all of ariana's coats. she usually stuffs her coat in her backpack since it gets warm in the afternoon. so i never have a chance to take a picture of her wearing it. the weather has been windy and cooler this week, and i was able to snap one for the blog. its a trench coat from gap. also sporting her MK michael kors boots - not sure if she'll get to wear them in may weather permitting.

Cal Poly Hoodies

 

this is kuya josh's alma mater - cal poly san luis obispo. he bought a small hoodie for ariana when he graduated 2012, and its just now fitting her. perfect for PE prep on this windy cool day. when josh moved out, i had packed up the rest of his stuff. put in the garage where he can take a bag/box little by little when he comes over. this hoodie was in a bag for awhile, so i claimed it and been wearing it ever since. funny when he saw me he said, "hey, i've been looking for that".
